Earth day, night, cloud, normal and specular maps: Solar System Scope, https://www.solarsystemscope.com/textures/ Licensed under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International: https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/ Maps based on NASA imagery. Modified for this site: cloud map and mobile day/night maps resized to 4096px; day/night maps rendered with blue terrain grading and white city lights. Version 17: normal/specular TIFF sources converted to JPEG for web delivery. Normal maps sampled as linear tangent-space data; specular maps sampled as linear water masks. Blue albedo retains geographic variation, mapped normals light terrain relief, and a restrained cloud layer adds atmospheric detail. Version 21 hero: procedural tangent chip tiles, bevel material and atmospheric falloffs adapted from the client-provided concept at https://nissology-site-refined.vercel.app/hero-lib/place2.js (accessed 2026-10-02). The current hero does not load the legacy Earth raster textures listed above. Geographic coverage is generated from Natural Earth 110m data (public domain), bundled as land-mask.js. Our original connected route composition and framing are retained. Version 23 geographic coverage: filled polygons from Natural Earth 110m land, public domain, https://www.naturalearthdata.com/about/terms-of-use/ . Source dataset: https://raw.githubusercontent.com/nvkelso/natural-earth-vector/master/geojson/ne_110m_land.geojson . Quarter-degree scanline coverage is generated by tools/build-land-mask.py. It replaces the earlier sparse point lookup.
